C-TPAT: Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism

C-TPAT is a voluntary government-business initiative that promotes the highest level of cargo security through close cooperation with the U.S. Government and the international trade community. “A proud member since 2007, Conviron’s participation in this worldwide security initiative is vital in ensuring a reliable supply chain for our clients,” said Steve Kroft, Conviron’s CEO.

The rigorous validation process requires members to meet security criteria in eight distinct areas. These areas include business partner requirements, container security, physical access controls, personnel security, procedural security, security awareness programs, physical security and information technology security. Once validated by site visits from U.S. Customs and Border Protection, a C-TPAT member can take advantage of the several benefits this membership brings from “front of the line” processing for international shipment examinations to expedited processing at the border and reduced inspections. Ultimately, certification increases predictability and minimizes potential disruptions to our clients and distributors.
